Majestic Feathers- Hello all! This is a novel I’ve been wanting to pick up for awhile and I was going to post chapter five last week until a casual look on Novelupdates revealed the translator, Igushi, must have deleted their site. So now I’m starting on chapter one! I re-translated the title so its a bit smaller. So far of the novels I’ve picked up, this one has been the most difficult. I’m planning to post one chapter a week, unless some of you lovely readers take over my weekends and sponsor a chapter on my Koi-Fi. Some rules apply with that so I don’t get overwhelmed, but any tips will go to site costs and liquid caffeine injections.
“Dark Lord, the queen has been hanging on the city gate for seven days now.”
“Did she agree to give her heart in exchange for Yin Yue?”
“The queen…she had a miscarriage on the fourth day. Later, she jumped off the Zhu Xian Terrace and should be dead by now.”
Luo Han stared at the words for a long time before finally saying, “This is the book I’m in?”
Across from her, the Bodhi tree and countless ancient turtles and other ancestors who were as old as the sky and earth, looked at Luo Han lovingly.
“By your reckoning, it can be described as transmigration.”
Luohan quickly flipped through the pages that remained. After a quick scan, she felt much more overwhelmed. “My name isn’t even mentioned in here. I’m not a supporting character, a cannon fodder, or anything else. Why must I transmigrate into this book?”
Just a moment ago, Luo Han was an ordinary college student. This year, she was taking the college entrance exam and had planned to study law in her dream university. If she had not suddenly been transported here, she would be sitting at her desk now, preparing for her final exams tomorrow.
Who knew that she had just fallen asleep for a short while and when she awoke, she would suddenly see so many unscientific supernatural creatures.
Even more terrifying was that the large talking tree with extraordinary features handed her a book. Green light spots condensed from its treetops in front of her. She gathered her senses, reached out and took the book and then saw that magical dialogue just now.
Luo Han silently pinched herself and desperately discovered that she could clearly perceive pain, even the flow of the breeze near her hand. She had to face facts: she had been transmigrated.
Transmigrated into an immortal and martial arts novel that digs deep into the heart, tears out the kidneys, and has a deep love that can destroy the world.
She endured the discomfort in her heart and quickly flipped through the pages, getting an idea of the entire plot. Essentially, it was about a naive and ignorant immortal herb that grew sentient and transformed into a human, becoming the female lead Yun Menghan in this story. While cultivating, Yun Menghan met the two young lords of the Zhongshan Canglong clan, older brother Ling Zhongyu and younger brother Ling Qingxiao. The two brothers fell deeply in love with the female lead and fought for her, with Ling Zhongyu eventually falling into the demonic realm and becoming the Demon Lord, while Ling Qingxiao defeated all the dragon races of the heavens and succeeded as the Heavenly Emperor.
The overlords of the immortal and demonic realms refused to let go of the same woman. In addition, many men, such as the king of the demon race, the priestess of the secluded witch clan, and the prince of the phoenix clan, were all enamored with the female lead and were willing to wage wars for her. However, despite so many people pursuing her, the female lead only loved the awful Demon Lord to the point where he inflicted severe pain and torture on her but she remained deeply in love and without regrets.
The female lead’s experience with the Demon Lord greatly stimulated the numerous male supporting characters, with many men launching attacks to try to seize her, among whom the second male lead, Ling Qingxiao, was the most powerful. Coming from the Zhongshan Canglong clan, Ling Qingxiao also had noble origins among the dragons, but his childhood and youth were extremely tragic.
Ling Qingxiao was originally the fruit of the marriage between the Zhongshan Canglong and the Lingshan Yinglong clans, a legitimate heir and a prodigy. However, there happened to be a love child born around the same time, with Ling Qingxiao’s birth triggering an omen, while the love child was born in a poor family with weak health from the start.
The father loved the weak love child and was worried that he wouldn’t survive under the jealous care of his legitimate wife, so he swapped the two children.
The love child was Ling Zhongyu, the male lead, who was replaced by the legitimate son, Ling Qingxiao.
Ling Zhongyu, had been the beloved young master of the Zhongshan clan, praised and adored by everyone for a thousand years before he defected to the demon realm, changing his surname to Ye. Ling Qingxiao, on the other hand, experienced the opposite.
After becoming an illegitimate child, Ling Qingxiao became a thorn in his stepmother’s side. Main wife Su Yifang, his stepmother, didn’t know that the “bastard” was her own son. She came from a noble background and was jealous, so she often mistreated Ling Qingxiao and even went so far as to extract his blood every month to create medicinal baths for her weak “son” Ling Zhongyu.
Eventually, the father found an opportunity to bring Ling Zhongyu’s birth mother, Bai Lingluan, into the household as a concubine. At this point, the two children had swapped identities for more than ten years. In order to prevent further trouble and avoid bringing shame upon the Zhongshan clan, the father allowed Bai Lingluan to acknowledge Ling Qingxiao as her son while allowing Ling Zhongyu to continue as the legitimate young master under Su Yifang.
Ling Qingxiao knew nothing and thought that Bai Lingluan was his real mother. Bai Lingluan knew everything and watched as Ling Zhongyu continued to be pampered by Su Yifang while her own son was abused. Bai Lingluan began to feel a sense of revenge and treated Ling Qingxiao poorly, often beating and scolding him. Ling Qingxiao thought he just needed to work harder to please his mother and focused on cultivating.
However, no matter how hard he worked, all he received was his mother’s cold face. Abused by his stepmother and unloved by his birth mother, Ling Qingxiao became silent, calm, and focused solely on his cultivation. He also became cold, indifferent, and rarely smiled.
He stopped laughing altogether.
If this was all that happened, he might have been able to accept it. However, fate had other plans for him.
At the age of three hundred, Ling Qingxiao became an immortal, and at one thousand, he ascended to become a celestial being. This speed of cultivation was unheard of in the immortal realm. Su Yifang was jealous and threatened Ling Qingxiao with Bai Lingluan’s life, forcing him to hand over his dragon core.
The dragon core is where the essence of the dragon clan resides, and once it’s separated from the body, it’s difficult to survive. In order to save his birth mother, Ling Qingxiao self-inflicted harm and ripped out his dragon core. Su Yifang immediately took it to be used as medicine for her son Ling Zhongyu, causing Ling Qingxiao’s vitality to be greatly damaged. However, Ling Qingxiao was unaware that the mother he saved with everything he had, Bai Lingluan, had only felt satisfaction and pleasure in her heart of his pain.
Su Yifang and Ling Qingxiao had a hostile relationship, while her son Ling Zhongyu enjoyed all the benefits. How satisfying for her.
Relying on Ling Qingxiao’s dragon core, Ling Zhongyu finally broke through the bottleneck and ascended to become a celestial. Su Yifang concealed the fact that Ling Qingxiao had already reached this level and attributed Ling Zhongyu’s talent to him only. Su Yifang celebrated the achievement and invited many guests to observe the ceremony, but on that day, a heavenly thunder descended.
Heavenly thunder was not a rare occurrence; anyone seeking to ascend must undergo a thunder tribulation. However, upon closer inspection, the guests found that it was the Thunder of Exorcism.
Everyone was stunned. Su Yifang was a pure-blooded Yinglong clan dragon, and the head of the Ling family was an ancient blue dragon. The two dragon species would never have a son with demon blood. And among the people present, only Bai Lingluan was a hybrid of immortals and demons.
The truth was suddenly uncovered so abruptly and brutally. Ling Zhongyu was not Su Yifang’s son, it was actually Ling Qingxiao, who was abused by her all along.
The plot twist came so suddenly that everyone was caught off guard. At that moment, thunder rumbled, and suddenly the first Thunder of Exorcism struck. Ling Zhongyu had Ling Qingxiao’s dragon core inside him, and the heavenly thunder discerned people by their aura. Even Ling Qingxiao was judged as a demon by the thunder tribulation. As the thunder descended, Su Yifang and Bai Lingluan flew to Ling Zhongyu’s side to protect him, risking their own lives to block the thunder. However, Ling Qingxiao was left alone and had to bear forty-nine strikes of lightning.
At this critical juncture, Ling Zhongyu was chosen by everyone, including his father, birth mother, foster mother, uncle, cousin, and even his little junior sister Yun Menghan, who he had protected for seven hundred years. When there was only one thunderbolt left, the heavenly thunder could not distinguish who was the true demon. So, it gave the judgment to the only spiritual entity present – the female lead Yun Menghan.
However, at this crucial moment, the female lead was biased towards the male lead and pointed out Ling Qingxiao as the true demon.
The electric light suddenly descended, the thunderbolt’s mighty power even destroyed half of the Zhongshan Mountain, and Ling Qingxiao fell into the Abyss of Eternal Silence. The Abyss was rumored to be where gods perished, with no vegetation or living beings coming out alive, hence the name of Eternal Silence.
But Ling Qingxiao miraculously survived and crawled out of the abyss, which no one had ever come back alive from before. From that moment, he had blackened and sought revenge on the male lead, Ling Zhongyu. But unfortunately, the female and male lead kept torturing each other, with the female lead running back to Ling Qingxiao every time she was injured, he would heal her, and then she would run back to the male lead once again. This cycle continued, driving Ling Qingxiao completely crazy.
After blackening, Ling Qingxiao single-handedly dominated the scene and forced many supporting male characters to band together in the same camp as him. The leads, and the supporting male characters formed an alliance to resist Ling Qingxiao. However, even with joint efforts, they still couldn’t beat Ling Qingxiao. The male and female lead had no choice but to ignore the prohibition of the Six Realms and activate an ancient forbidden technique.
As the forbidden technique appeared, the world shook, and all sentient beings trembled in fear. At this moment, the war between immortals and demons was still ongoing, and the world was on the brink of destruction.
As Luo Han flipped through the book roughly, she felt a sense of unease growing inside her. “Could it be that I am just one of the millions of creatures that perished?” she thought to herself.
She couldn’t help but wonder why she bothered to transmigrate in the first place. If she had known this was how it would turn out, she would have never done so. It was then that the oldest and highest-ranked Bodhi Tree spoke, “You have transcended beyond the Six Realms and are not a being bound by reincarnation. Therefore, your name would naturally not be recorded in the book.”
Luo Han was at a loss. “Don’t you have the wrong person? My name is not even mentioned in the plot. What use is it for me to transmigrate? You gods and immortals should probably send me back first. I need to take my exams,” she said helplessly.
These venerable ancestors, who looked so impressive, shook their heads and smiled when they heard Luo Han’s words. The Black Turtle slowly spoke up: “We did not make a mistake. Ling Qingxiao is determined to start a war, and Ye Zhongyu and Yun Menghan have resorted to a forbidden technique to stop him. With the appearance of the forbidden technique, the world was in chaos, and we old guys were finally alarmed. Unfortunately, we woke up too late, and there is no one outside willing to stop. We had no choice but to summon the Way of Heaven, request its return, and take charge of the situation.”
After the Black Turtle finished speaking, the other ancestors bowed their heads slowly and said together, “Please, Heavenly Dao, take charge of the situation, save the world, and prevent countless lives from dying in the flames of war.”
Luo Han raised her brows oddly and asked, “The Way of Heaven you’re talking about… could it be me?”
“You’re right,” said the Bodhi Tree in the same slow tone, waving a leaf, and then a picture appeared before Luo Han’s eyes. Mountains crumbled and waters overturned, floods and fires engulfed everything. As the picture shifted, millions of troops took to the skies between the clouds, using magical techniques and immortal instruments to clash in mid-air. In the distance, the ground shook uncontrollably as a demonic light penetrated the sky and entered the depths of the clouds.
Luo Han guessed, “Could it be…?”
“That’s right. This is the true scene outside at this moment. Here is the barrier we constructed together to summon the Way of Heaven,” the Bodhi Tree replied.
Luo Han turned her head to look around and indeed, although the area was covered in a pale green light, upon closer inspection, the boundary was forcibly split open. Luo Han didn’t know whether to be amazed that she had lived an ordinary life for eighteen years and was suddenly told she was a deity, or to marvel at how insane those people outside were to have destroyed their home like this.
It took a while for Luo Han to process it all, and she tentatively asked, “But I’m just an ordinary person. I never skipped class, never cheated on homework, never had a crush, and I always respected my parents and teachers…”
The Bodhi Tree rustled its branches and leaves and replied, “You were conceived by heaven and earth, with no father or mother.”
“But what about my parents…” Luo Han started to ask.
“They are the Way of Heaven, Heavenly Dao, in another realm. To be more precise, your “father” is. In order for you to grow up smoothly, he transformed into the appearance of human parents. When you were born, your physical form was too fragile, so we were afraid that something might go wrong before you fully matured, so he took you away to protect you, guide you, and teach you how to fulfill your duties. Time flows differently in the two realms, and we originally planned for you to study there for a few thousand years before bringing you back. However, we ran out of time.”
Luo Han was stunned. She thought it was already terrifying enough to find out she wasn’t human, but it was even more terrifying to learn that her parents weren’t human either. She even had no parents, and the ones she thought she had were just a manifestation of the same existence.
Luo Han was speechless for a moment and asked, “So what exactly do I need to do?”
“To be the Way of Heaven,” said the Bodhi Tree, bending its branches towards Luo Han, and its leaves fluttered down like a gentle rain. With a very contented and kind tone, the Bodhi Tree said to Luo Han, “Now, please go and save the world, Heavenly Dao.”
Luo Han slowly processed out a question mark: “?”
What was even scarier was that none of the others present thought there was anything wrong with this statement. With a hint of despair in her shock, Luo Han squeaked, “I just finished taking final exams recently, and now you want me to go save the world? How can I do that?”
“It’s simple. Stop Ling Qingxiao. If he doesn’t insist on attacking the Demon Realm, Ye Zhongyu and Yun Menghan won’t be forced to resort to the forbidden technique. The world won’t suffer this disaster…” The Bodhi Tree had not finished speaking when the barrier suddenly shook noticeably. Luo Han could clearly feel the sky and earth shaking under her feet.
Everyone quickly stabilized their posture. The barrier had clearly shrunk by a circle and the light had become dim. The Bodhi Tree released a leaf, and then the voice lost its calm: “It’s not good. Ling Qingxiao has taken action. Ye Zhongyu has initiated the forbidden technique. It’s too late. Send her back in time quickly.”
After the Bodhi Tree finished speaking, the various ancestors quickly used their powers, and a layer of gentle bright light surrounded Luo Han. Feeling overwhelmed, Luo Han shouted, “Wait, first tell me what I need to do. What about the body I’m wearing?”
“Incarnated as the Heavenly Law, you are not restricted by the Six Realms or incorporated into the cycle of reincarnation. Only you can disregard spacetime and the world, freely shuttling between the past and future. Besides you, no one can go back to the past, not even us. However, opening a spacetime vortex consumes enormous spiritual power. We have gathered everyone’s power to send you back to the past. Way of Heaven, please remember that if the world is ever destroyed, all living beings in this realm will perish. As a spiritual being born from Heaven and Earth, you will also disappear with all things. Prosperity of all life is key to your own prosperity. If all life perishes, you will also suffer damage.”
“When you leave this time, we won’t have time to open the time vortex again. Remember, you only have one chance, and no matter what method you use, you must stop Ling Qingxiao.”
Luo Han didn’t get a chance to say another word and was guided by the majestic spiritual power into the time-space vortex. As the vortex closed, Luo Han saw the barrier breaking open, revealing the devastated land outside. In the hazy sky, a person stood on the clouds. Although it was too far away to see his face clearly, Luo Han could vaguely see him pointing his sword. Along the direction of his sword aura, the ground instantly split open, creating a deep and sharp crack that even split far-off mountains in half.
He seemed to sense something and looked in Luo Han’s direction. In that instant, everything was silent, and the world was still.
